Howard attached a tarp above the front porch to direct the rain from the front of the house - then sat on the porch reminiscing about the time he and 'the old man' spent a stormy night on the J&B on their way home from St John's.
On closer inspection, you can see how appropriately he was dressed for the summer weather. He said on the J&B he was wearing sneakers, but standing in knee-deep water. I think he and his dad had a pretty terrifying night being tossed about on stormy seas and not being able to see anything because of heavy fog. Lack of radar and radio must have made it seem even more terrifying.
However, storms do pass - when the morning came and everything became visible again, they found themselves off Catalina, quite a distance from home. Our afternoon storm passed by within the hour, declaring itself with only one loud clap of thunder and a weak lightning flash. The tarp held steady - the scotch tape and twist ties did their job. I'm not kidding. Really.
Waylon and Jessi - Storms Never Last - the video quality of this is not so great, but if you have an 'other' that looks at you the way Waylon looks at Jessi, consider yourself blessed!
We just had a little visitor - Neil dropped by with Dominik, and of course Poppy had to offer him the messiest and sweetest thing he could find - one of Aunt Nikkie's chocolate cupcakes. Don't tell his mommy. Now I have to sweep the kitchen floor again.
